Exhibition 2024
Close My Eyes, Paradise
“Close My Eyes, Paradise”, is one of the spin-off collections from Kristina’s current main exhibition series “ICARO” where she explores the shamanic world of South America.
The purpose of these series is an exploration of refined concept of jungle ecosystem and ancient aboriginal stories, providing an opportunity to experience a different, primal culture. It aims to educate and acquaint modern urban individuals with an entirely different reality, where unseen plants, colorful birds, and the connection and importance of this vanishing environment to the entire Earth’s ecosystem are showcased.
Kristina in her work is deeply mesmerized by the Amazon jungle and the magic it holds. By the shamans and their songs, spiritual visions, healing plants and how it all peculiarly connects to us, humans in a grand scheme of things.
“Close My Eyes, Paradise” is a story about endangered bird species that inhabit the treetops, the lungs of our planet - Amazon rainforest. In the exposition, birds, referring to the unfamiliar to us jungle itself, seem to be mute. They fly in stillness and in visions. As an imprint of the sound itself, which has to be felt by the viewer and heard within.
Exhibited at Les Couleurs Art Gallery group show, September 2024, Miami, Florida.
